Rating: 6 Johno says: Bought the Dams R2140DD for general office storage and the size of this fitted the bill and provides a lot of storage, making best use of the space in the office. The assembly instructions are reasonably good, the cupboard panels are good quality and assembly would have been straightforward if it weren't for a few of the pre-drilled cam-screw holes being a few mm off-position, meaning that the cam-screw couldn't grip the head of the screw. It took a while but I managed to find a workaround though it did mean that there's a 1mm gap between the side and back of the unit where it should have been flush, but not too big a deal. Generally where a wood-screw is used to fix something to the cabinet or doors, there are pre-drilled holes, except for when it comes to fitting the lock - this makes it much more difficult to fit the lock to the door and requires extra tools or brute force. Also, the door catch at the top of the door and it's corresponding l-bracket at the top of the cabinet are both fixed with countersunk screws where flat-head screws should have been used. Also, the instructions indicate the use of two screws to fix the l-bracket but there is only one pre-drilled hole, but then the screw heads are too big to use two of them, so I used just one. after aligning the bracket to the door catch to ensure I was screwing in the bracket using the correct hole. When fitting the doors I found a missing screw used to fix the door hinges to the carcass, but one was posted by Dams and arrived a few days later. Finally, there are a two holes on the top panel of the cabinet, which I believe are there to fit door stop posts, though none are included and none are mentioned in the instructions, but I do notice that the right-hand door is not flush with the left-hand door which does rest against the l-bracket when closed. As usual 121 dealt with the issues quickly , I can't fault their service but Dams office furniture does seem to cut some corners, which is a shame.
